Somdev Devvarman Makes History in Asian Games
 Indian tennis star, Somdev Devvarman,
made it in the history books, by achieving the impossible. He thrashed Japanese tennis icon Tatasuma Ito, to become the first ever Indian to make it into the Men’s Singles Final, of the Asian games.  Monday was an outstandingly fruitful day for Devvarman,
as he thumped Ito 6-2 0-6 6-3,to book his spot for the finals and a shot at the  significant

single’s gold Medal. He will now face Uzbekistan’s tennis star, Denis Istomin.

Additionally, more good news headed towards India’s way as the dynamic duo of Somdev Devvarman and Sanam Singh shattered Chinese double’s
competitors, Gong Maoxin and Li Zhe. It was a team endeavor by the Indians, managing to win the clash 6-3 6-7(4) 10-8 and earning the first ever Gold medal in tennis doubles final.
Astonishingly this feat by the Indians came as a big surprise, especially after the dynamic duo of Leander Paes and
Mahesh Bhupathi, decided to drop out of the Asian games and compete In the World Tour Finals. It was this most recognized Indian tennis pair which bagged a gold medal in the previous Asian Games, in 2006.

Somdev Devvarman has made the impossible, possible. Being a gold medalist in the common wealth games, it is no surprise that this
man can take home gold in the singles final. Before him, the Indians succeeded in winning only three bronze medals in the last Asian Games.
Shedding light on the semi-final of Somdev Devvarman and Tatasuma Ito, it is clear that the former has the stamina
and potential to grab gold. He easily managed to edge past Ito in the first set but somehow lost his balance in the second. However, all was not lost, as Devvarman came back super-strong and attained a win. This day will be remembered for a long time as the
unthinkable happened and records were re-written. More joy was yet to come as Somdev Devvarman also edged past Istomin to win the clash and take home the Gold. He is the only Indian contender to have achieved this feat, making his country extremely proud.
Thanks to this young-gun, India won a total of seven gold medals.
