Somdev Devvarman reaches the top hundred rankings
Nothing comes easily and similarly the Indian professional tennis player, Somdev Devvarman has finally made it into the top hundred ATP list after two struggling years.
Somdev after reaching the top hundred spot said, “It feels great to be among the top hundred players as I have done a lot of hard work for that”.
It was an important landmark for the, now, ninety six ranked Indian tennis ace who has registered his name as the second male player from his country to reach the top hundred. Leander Paes was the first Indian player from the men’s side to be ranked as high, accomplishing that deed back in 1999.
Devvarman is a very famous tennis player both in India as well as in United States of America. He has so far grabbed a total of two NCAA trophies; in 2007 as well as in 2008, crushing his American opponent John Isner in the final battle back in 2007. He has a couple of nick names as well such as Sommy, Buji as well as Dev.

As of August 4th, 2010, the Indian professional tennis player, Somdev Devvarman has participated in a total of two Grand Slam tournaments namely the United States Open championship back in 2009 where he made his way into the round number two before falling down to Philipp Kohlschreiber as well as the 2010 French Open competition, where he was defeated in round number one by Marco Chiudinelli in a total of five sets.
With the United States Open beginning from August 30, Somdev is really excited about his possibilities of making a direct entry into a major on the very first occasion in his professional life. "My possibilities are about 50-50. However, if I will be in the main draw of the event without participating in the qualifying, I will be totally fresh and set to face any player. I think it is going to be a huge challenge for me. However I am ready to take up”, he added.
