Just read this story....had to share. For those of you who don't use links, parents in Berlin put their 7 month baby on ebay for 1 euro.....later said to be a 'joke'. Gross!!

To make this a question: Our child's first mom is due in court soon to determine TPR. She hasn't done anything the court has asked her to do and has not shown up at the last 2 hearings. We have been told we can be present at the hearings. I am kind of nervous, in case she were to show....but our child won't be there....is there any reason why we should not be there....as we want to show that there are good people who are raising the child and that do show an interest in his well being. Thanks!

  1. im sorry but putting a child up for sell on ebay  is no joke  they are some stupid adults  who care only about themselve

  2. Hi Tickled Blue,

Yeah, so not funny.  I'm just thankful that no one actually bid on the child.

Torrejon gives good advice I'd listen to her.  I would certainly go to court.  Best of luck!

  3. Yeah...the joke is that the police did not immediately hunt them down and arrest them.  Some things just do not make good material for a joke.

Can you be present at the hearing but remain anonymously in the "audience"?  If during the proceeding you feel the need to participate, you could step forward...

  4. Shocking and stupid.... I am very glad to see that no one made any offers.

I agree with Toregon...you could be a silent observer.

  5. Hi,

Childfren up for ebay as a joke, not funny in my book.

As for court, well you really are not a legal parent to the child until the parental rights have been terminated.  I am curious, is the child with you now?  If so how did that work?  Where I am from you don' t even get to know about a child until the parents rights are relinquished and then the children have to be prepped for adoption, (by this I mean they need time to grieve wtih their foster parents, they need education about adoption and they need psych reports on their development etc. so they are matched with the best possible aparents)

So go to court, but in reality you have no standing unless you are personally taking the parent to court, which does not seem to be the case.  I think be there in case you are needed, but don't say anything, as for the original mom this will be the hardest day of her life, and standing up as the new parents the second she loses her rights, well that may not feel good for you or her.

    Best of luck.

  6. What kind of sane parent would make a joke about selling their child on ebay.
