Some Snow Questions?

So I am a California Girl in the need of a little help!

1. I have a warm white jacket.... will it get really dirty in the snow? It was expensive, so I do not want to get it dirty and now be able to get it cleaned.

2. The Jacket has down in it? Is that bad?

3. If I am going for 5 days, can anyone make me a list of what i need?

4. Is skiing really hard if you have never done it?

4.  Skiing is really hard on the joints, and the odds are you will fall down a LOT the first day

2.  Down is awful if you get it wet- it will lose all of it's insulative properties until it gets dry and you will freeze your butt off!

1.  If you are that spastic about staying clean, stay indoors- there's dirt out there and you might get icky-  eeewww!!!  Get real...

I would get a warm thick jacket because down is heavy when it gets wet.

Ski pants, winter jacket, good pair of thick warm socks, ski gloves, ski googles, some thing to put aruong neck and mouth not a scarf because you can get it caught on something or a ski mask it is out of style.

get some beginnerr lessons for a few days

1. If it's a waist length jacket it should be ok...unless you fall over...which is likely for a beginner.  Rent a ski jacket if you can't get this white one cleaned easily

2.  Down is good...if its in a waterproof outer.

3. Ski jacket & pants

Long johns + thermal shirt

(number of layers you need will vary according to the temperature where you are going)

face mask / neck warmer / hat

ski gloves or mittens

4. not hard if you take a lesson or two to get started.  Most resorts have a beginners group that's reasonably priced and will get you up and running.

Very hard if you try to learn from a friend who has no experience in teaching skiing!  (seen plenty of those on the mountain the last few days..)

Im going skiing aswell in 6 days in Italy for 8 days and I'm sooooo excited!! and I've also made a list Woo =D It's pretty long and some of the stuff are for the room because we are going with the school =P But I hope it comes in handy =D
