I'm a bit confused.

In Spanish what is the difference between the word "Te"and "Tu". How do you know when to use them.Or like the word"Os" and "ustedes". And are the words"Lo, and la" mostly used to say"it"?

It would be greatly appreciated!

  1. I believe the difference between the two is the context in which you are using them. Check the link below, it should help.

  2. Te is a direct or indirect pronoun. Te llamo ( I call YOU).

Tú is a subject pronoun YOU are Juan (tú eres Juan)

Tu (adjective possessive: Tu casa (your casa)

Os (as ME, TE, NOS, OS) is a pronoun used to address 2 or more people (only used in Spain): OS llamo (I call YOU).

USTEDES is like OS (wildly used in Andalusia and Latin America), also has a formal touch when addressing people.

LO, LA, LOS, LAS pronouns used as direct complement:

JUan lee el libro (Juan reads the book): Juan LO lee (LO is the book)

    And so on.

Give me your email and I send you a grammar sheet explaining it.

  3. "TU" IS A PERSONAL PRONOUM SUCH AS "YOU". BUT I THINK YOU ARE CONFUSING "TU" WHEN YOU USE IT AS A POSSESIONAL PRONOUM SUCH AS "YOUR". EXAMPLE: TU PLUMA ROJA (YOUR RED PEN)

BUT WHEN YOU USE "TE" (THAT IS NOT THE SAME AS "TÉ" WHICH MEANS TEA), IT REFERS TO SOMETHING HAPPENING TO THE PRONOUN OR SOMETHING THE PRONOUN DOES, EXAMPLE:  ÃƒÂ‚¿TE CAISTE? (DID YOU FALLED DOWN?) OR: ¿YA TE LO COMISTE? (DID YOU ALREADY EAT IT?)

  4. Tu Means "you" in a not so proper way

you say ustedes if you are talking to someone older than you to show respect , you use "la" if you are refering to a girl and you use "el" if you are refering to a boy

    hope that helps
