Question:

Some advice for preventing weird rashes?

I have a question about rashes. Well, about 2 days ago after muay thai class, I noticed this little rash (looks like a birth mark) on my wrist. And then I noticed one on my ankle. It doesn’t itch or anything but its just there! I wear ankle supports and hand wraps under my gloves. Is it because I sweat? Is there something I can use to make it go away? I rear rash guards when I do jiujitsu so I don’t get anything like that on my arms but why would I get this on my wrist and ankle? Its not big at all but it bugs me. I don’t know how to describe but it’s a bit darker than my regular skin color and if you look closely, kinda looks like a burn. Any idea why and how to prevent and treat?

  1. Hi.

You might be better off asking this in the health section but I'll take my best crack at it...

Is sounds kind of like some sort of chafing or mild blood blisters but you would know how likely this is better than I.

It also could be a mild allergy to whatever material is in direct contact with your skin.

I once knew a guy who was allergic to his own sweat, this isn't very likely but it is an option.

Perhaps a chemical is still left on your gear from the manufacturing plant?  Along the same lines something might have gotten onto your gear then onto your skin causing the rash.  I of course don't know how often you wash your gear but if it's been a while give it a try to see if it helps.

I'm by no means an expert I just thought you might appreciate at least one answer trying to pint you in the right direction.  Hopefully this will help you think of something that it could be.

Again, I'd try asking about this in the health section...

I hope this helps at least in some way :)
