Question:

Some black men get offended?

I am mixed with black and white but I don't classify myself as only being one race. Well anyway i've met some black guys who got highly offended when I told them that I am not black. Yes I have black in me but I would never classify myself as just being black. I love being mixed and I love both sides of my family and by me just saying that i'm black would be disowning apart of myself. Am I wrong for thinking like this?

  1. no you are not wrong at all, thats who you are you dont need to say that youre something else just to please someone else

  2. No!

I'm mixed too, half Japanese and half German, and that's how I classify myself after American. Even on forms I pick both and if that not an option I'll pick other or write it in.

Don't let people pigeon hole you because that makes them feel better. You be who you are.

  3. no you're not wrong for thinking that, i'm mixed too, but i'm asian and white. i don't classify myself as just asian or just white either. some people might be offended by this because they want to think that you're just one race, but i think they're thinking that you don't want to be that race, you want to be the other, as in like you don't like being black, i think that's why they're getting offended.

  4. no, you're not wrong for thinking that. but how you said it sure was. those black guys have pride in their ethnicity, and that's good. but when you said you are NOT black, even though you're partly black, it might have came of as you were denying your black heritage in a sense and that you might be embarrassed of being black.

  5. No. You are mixed and that is who you are.  No one can change that and you should be proud of it.  I know mixed race guys who don't just call themselves black.  They're proud of all parts of they're family.

  6. James, I am also mixed but i'm mixed with black & mexican. I also don't classify myself as just being one race. I've also pissed people off before because I wasn't what they wanted me to be.

  7. Nope, you're not wrong for thinking like this.  You have an entire family, not just a part of it.  Embrace all of your heritage.

  8. no...its a personal choice...but i do question your intentions on denouncing the label black...if its because you dont like the label black and dont want to be asociated with it, then theres something wrong with you....but i'm giving you the benifit of the doubt and i think you have good intentions
