Some career advice.?

I'm a 27 year old Auto Mechanic for BMW and am interested in going back to school. I'm interested in getting my Bachelors degree in "something". I've always liked working with my hands and trying to figure out how things work. After high school I tried pretty much every trade from fitness to where I am now. Any ideas on what kind of degree might be good for me?

  1. I would say they are only good if your gonna use them. A degree doesn't do you any good if it isn't the field of work your gonna be doing. I know people who have degree's and they are useless because they are not doing that job. Go for something you like or love to do. If you like kids go for Teaching or a Pediatrics or if you like animals go for a Veterinary degree. There is lots to do if your smart enough and it is what you like. I wish I would have been smart enough for Vet, I would love to work with animals. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. My brother is a Diesel Mechanic and has been for like 25 years.

  2. Based on what you have said I would recommend Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. You learn to be a problem solver and will work with and design machinery and equipment, among other things. Plus you can earn the degree completely on-line if the classes don't fit into your schedule. Starting salary is around $60K but I have heard people getting offers higher than this.
