  1. simple syrup is a equal mix of granulated sugar and water brought to the boil and cooled to room temp or it can be refrigerated.

    example 1 cup water

    1 cup granulated sugar

    to the boil

    cool

    simple

  2. maple syrup go with aunt jamima's original flavor

  3. It's a common mixer for many different recipes. Also called bar syrup. Basically it just makes the drink a bit sweeter and sometimes activates additional flavor scents not present in the drink before. You should be able to find it just about anywhere that sells alcohol (except gas stations silly). If you are in CA or AZ, go to BevMo.

  4. 1 part water in a pot, 2 parts regular sugar, stir it and let it boil, the result is simple syrup, and its actually sweeter than the original sugar

and they use it in cocktails because suger doesnt dissolve well in cold drinks

  5. equal parts sugar and water....hot water or the sugar will not dissolve properly....but only make as much as necessary...simple syrup has a shelf life of only 24 hours..

  6. Mix 2 parts sugar and 1 part boiling water, the result is simple syrup.

  7. It's pretty easy to make and you can make a bunch of it ahead of time.

    * Bring 2 cups of plain cold tap water to a boil. Stir in 2 cups of plain granulated sugar. Turn the heat to low and stir constantly until the sugar dissolves completely.

    * To test if the sugar is completely dissolved, use a metal spoon to scoop up a small bit of the syrup. Tilt it over the pan and watch carefully. You shouldn't be able to see any crystals in the liquid.

    * Let the syrup cool to room temperature, then pour into a clean glass jar and store in the refrigerator.

Don't buy the stuff at the store, which is loaded with preservatives or maybe even high fructose corn syrup.
