Some ethnic differences between South American Countries like Colombia?

Hi,

Anyone knows something about possible ethnic relations and differences between South American countries. I mean like some countries have historical problems with each other and hence the people of each side still feel sort of weird about the other? Like what usually was happening between Germans and Frenchs after WW2.

Who is Colombia's rival or sort of opponent?

Thanks.

  1. Colombia and Venezuela do not get along very well, but it's because of border and resource disputes, not ethnicity.  Colombia is allied with the United States, which is hostile to Venezuela, so that causes some tension.

  2. right now, probably Venezuela and Ecuador.

But it's more of a government issue. I don't think civilians have much problems.

  3. Regarding ethnic differences a country like Colombia is mostly Mestizo, which about 60% of the population and about 20% White and like 5% black (or something along those lines). The neighboring countries have similar statistics, many of them have a majority Mestizo population except for Brazil and Argentina which have large White populations.

I wouldn't say that any of the countries hate each other because of race or ethnic background. The reason there is some animosity among certain countries in the region is because of political reasons mentioned above which have nothing to do with race.

  4. venezuela and equador  for one

but at the present time pres.uribe ( colombia ) is the only

one fighting the problems with drugs and a terrorist orgn. ( farc ) which  these 2 pres. chavez and correa  support  uribe is on his own by trying  to fight these problems
