  1. Vegetable/fruit tray

  2. Maybe a nice botte of wine, you could probably get a nice red for under $20,,,

  3. Bud Lite works for me!!!

  4. A bottle of cheap wine. Riunite Lambrusco is wonderful and about $8. for a nice size bottle.

  5. take either a good salad or dessert, safe bet!

  6. Stop by the grocery store and get a cheese cake or dessert...or stop by the liquor store and grab a bottle of wine.

  7. Flowers - you can get a nice arrangment w/ fall colors from most supermarkets, for under $20.

  8. just ask is there anything you should bring

  9. You could take wine of course and I would recommend Champagne as an aperitif. Wine is always welcome but your host may have planned wine with each course. Champagne can be expensive but sparking Chardonnays can be delicious and less costly. Everyone likes bubbly and anyone who rubbishes sparkling Chardonnays from a student isn't worth worrying about. If you want to create a wow then how about Irish coffees for after. You made need some whiskey but you host might have some if you ring and say you'd like to do something for the dinner. Irish Whiskey is more difficult to source in half bottles but Scotch whisky will usually suffice. There's the old favorite dessert.

A really good quality Ice Cream dressed up with chocolate shavings or biscotti is cheap and always a winner, but the golden rule with any food is check with your host. If your host already has desserts then after dinner mints are something I love. REMEMBER, you've been asked because someone wants your company not because of what you might bring. You're at college and people understand you're not awash with cash. Relax and enjoy.

  10. Any kind of wine or a fancy liquor is fine. Try the following:

White wine - any reisling (never bring white zinfandel)

Red Wine - shiraz yellowtail (inexpensive)

Champagne - i like any rose'

If your hosts don't drink then you can bring flowers or dessert.

These are the best gifts unless you know them well and think they would like something more specific. It depends in the relationship betw. u and the host.

  11. take a bottle of wine !!! You can even get a nice bottle for under 10 bucks...put some nice colored ribbons on it and voila...you have something nice in your hand to take along....

  12. take a apple or cherry pie.
