Question:

Some good at-home workouts?

I'm trying to lose weight, 10/15lbs, only because I'm on the cusp of being overweight, but not quite yet.

I've already changed my diet, eating better foods through out the day in smaller amounts rather than 3 meals a day. I take the stairs when I can, park further away from places, drink water constantly.

I don't like wasting my evenings going to a gym after work. What are some at-home exercises (no machinery) that will help me burn off this fat? Will simple crunches, lunges, and stretching work?

  1. Do one minute jump rope then light weights(chest presses) for a minute or so, jump rope for a minute then do light weights like bicep curls, and keep repeating about 4 or five times with different weight exercises.

I use 3 pound weights and the jumping rope really gets the weight off fast.  I also listen to music.  It takes about 8-10 minutes.

  2. Walk, walk, walk or run. Aerobic activity will burn the most calories and don't give up, be patient. Set a long term goal, 3 months 6 months one year. It doesn't happen overnight.

  3. Crunches lunges and stretching won't help you lose weight. Only cardio will burn all that off.

Get some workout dvds like tae bo or step aerobics or The Firm.

  4. Do exercise DVD's.  There are a million out there, so you'll need to find one that would work for you.  I personally love Tae Bo.  I have been doing it for years, and it is a fun and kickbutt workout.  You will lose weight doing Tae Bo if you do it regularly.

Just crunches, lunges and stretching will not help you burn the fat.  You need to do cardio to lose the weight.  That's the only thing that is going to get you to lose that weight (beside diet, of course). Doing crunches to define your abs will work once you get rid of the layer of fat on your stomach.

So, find some good DVD's, and get going.  Find a fun one-exercise can be fun!

  5. ok, u sound just like me!!  i've been doing Jillian Michaels 20 minute shred videos.  I've lost 8 inches since January and i LOVE the videos!! Its 3 minutes of strength training, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs and they repeat it 3 times with a 2 minute warm up for a total of 20 minutes....i am completely covered in sweat in a mesely 20 minutes!!!  Try it!

  6. Get the Vicky Binns exercise DVD! I was skeptical but it's fantastic. I reviewed it on dooyoo if you'd like more info: http://members.dooyoo.co.uk/movie-dvd/da...

I love it, I do it at least once every day and it makes me happy happy! And it's got me into lots more exercise now - I find myself researching different health & fitness tips etc. - it just gives you that interest in fitness in general, which is really important. It's a great starting point. Good luck :) x
