Finally common sense comes before greed, You never know pigs might fly and they will reduce the duty a bit.

  1. Didn't see this one coming......

As soon as they saw the public reaction they were always going to scrap it.  Won't be long before they find another discreet way of taxing us.

  2. I agree with you.

  3. Well, I feel for the rest of the world with those incredible gas prices. I live in Venezuela, where the gas costs about 5 US CENTS a litre, which is the price the whole world should pay, if taxes were not so over the top. Granted, we don't benefit of the same public services due to the no taxes policy, yet, we have all we need all the same and the government fill their pockets over the Swiss banks anyways. People should stop using their cars for a week, across the world, using only public transportation. It would shake the ones who benefit gruesomely from the gas benefits. By the way, my husband and I refuse to have a car just to protest against the selfishness of having a car for 2 people. We go through the buses or the shared taxis. It complicates our lives quite a bit, but, we do our share for the world.

  4. They would have forcibley been dragged out of parliament and power had they the hard faced gaul to increase fuel duty right now.

The only surprise is they apear to have realised that.

It's only a delay though, not a cancellation.

  5. By day two of the non-fuel duty tax rise, the price of a barrel of oil will have risen by another $2 - so the 2p will be just another snow drop in a blizzard.

The UK.gov have a massive deficit and I think not imposing the 2p tax hike on fuel at the pumps is a silly move and just playing to the gallery.

    Sorry but that's my vote.

  6. to little too late.  They couldnt do much else could they?  can you imagine the row if they'd let it through?

  7. Agent Zero,I admire your optimism, but you know we will get screwed somewhere else!

  8. Not really good news just the removal of some bad news...

  9. That's not good news, the price will go up anyway. The 2p is going to pale into insignificance with future rises.

For all those that want a change to the Tory's. David Cameron will be no different. I know it, you know it, but more importantly, he knows it.

  10. They don't need to increase the duty as for every penny per litre the price increases the government takes the biggest chunk!

  11. They know the price on fuel is going to rise anyway so there will be more money for the treasury in taxes.

I cannot see them lowering the duty on fuel.

  12. They grab the money some other way, don't worry about that!

  13. What does Dipshite Darling care - the fuel has gone up 10p a litre since the budget - so he ain't losing any revenue is he.

    Kick Labour Out

  14. Whoop-e-do

  15. Maybe you should all tell him 2p off!
