ok, so I need some help and advice. I'm gonna be out of highschool pretty soon, and I've finally figured out where I wanna go from there. I know it seems pretty extreme, but I'd like to move around Dublin and go to college there, then to veterinary school, and hopefully permenantly reside in Ireland. I am determined to do this, even though I will only be 18. Is it possible for me to leave the US and go to Ireland for college and such, if so, how? or do I have to wait until after I finish my first 4 years here? I got a little confused with this. anyone care to enlighten me? I posted this in immigration, but nobody was answering me, so I'm gonna try here

  1. Here is exactly what you need!

To get into Veterinary Medicine from North America you should apply through THIS program: (see: "studying in Ireland")

    http://www.atlanticbridge.com/vet/index....

    To go to THIS college

    http://www.ucd.ie/horizons/northam.htm

    Good luck!

    xxxxxx

EDIT...yes a million dollars is enough lol

Check out the "FAQ's" on this website anyway.....it should help you a lot. it even estimated how much you will need for accomodation etc...

(sorry for just throwing websites at you lol, but i think they have a lot of info that you need)

Hey! i dont know....seemingly you will need qualifications before you even start vet med, which is annoying

    it says, on application, you need;

    (i) completed a bachelor's degree by September 1st of the year of proposed entry

(ii) completed college-level courses in biology, chemistry, physics or mathematics by the same date and

(iii) experience working with small and/or large animals (preferably, but not necessarily, in a veterinary practice).

Im honestly not sure if that has to be completed in the US or not (i assume not, but im not completely sure).....the vet course is 5 years on its own, so it'll be long eitherway

I dont want to give you uncertain advice so i recommend you call the Atlantic Bridge program and ask them anything you're unsure about

    Phone....949-7236318

    (hopefully that will work)

Just to say, i think youd love the course in UCD...a friend of a friend of mine has just completed her first year of vet med....and she loves it!

and ive seen the student vet hospital too....when my dog was ill.....its nice there

  2. Sure you can go to college in Ireland, just apply to any one of their colleges and wait to see if your accepted. You'll have to do some calling, research, and filling out some applications other than that all you have to do is wait to be accepted. If you want to work there while your in college you will need to get a work visa, which it is the employer that applies for the work visa for you, not you. After you have finished college you can then start applying for a residential permit to live and work there while you are applying for citizenship. Good luck and have fun :).

  3. as far as I know you can get into college here quite easily and it will probably be cheaper than the American counterparts. WWW.tcd.ie - best uni in Dublin - contact their admissions people.
