I work way too much, and I have a the rare opportunity to spend the weekend playing with them. I want to create a "fun supper" for them, you know, new stuff, or finger foods, or fun ideas for presentation. Maybe even bake a cake to celebrate school being out together. The biggest part of all of this, is easy stuff they can do with me in the kitchen to enjoy each others company.

  1. mexican fiesta with mexican music and sombreros and tacos and nachos

  2. How about pretend camping out? You could throw a sheet over your table and eat by flashlight-it will be so fun it won't matter what you're eating!

  3. http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/

    lots of good ideas

  4. My kids love to have breakfast for dinner...Bacon, waffles, french toast hash browns etc....

  5. My kids love taco night - get all the fixings and different shells, different sauces, beans, rice, etc... and let them make their own - always a nice fun family dinner!

  6. I like the idea of a camp out, that sounds like fun!

I know my younger sisters used to love "pillow dinners" they would have things that looked like pillows (egg rolls, pirogies, chex cereal, turnovers, omelets, etc).  It gave them a chance to eat things together that they normally wouldn't have all in one meal.

  7. Go to a bookstore and get a children's cookbook with fun recipes for them and have them pick out a dinner and a dessert and get the ingredents and perpare them together.

  8. what you should do is fun and easy things that kids can cook like cookies, macaroni, chicken fingers, just something that will keep them business.

  9. My kids and I, on Wednesday nights, rent a movie and make an appetizer dinner. Mini Chimi, egg rolls, pizza rolls, mini rolled tacos, anything that would be in the frozen appetizer food section. We zap them in the microwave and watch a movie. It's not fancy, but they get to eat with there fingers in the living while there watching a movie. Each one gets to pick out a movie, we rent or just in our own collection. We do it on Wednesday, because it the middle of the week. I think it nice not to save everything for the weekend.

  10. Buy premade individual sized pizza shells and then all of your families favorite toppings.  Spread the oil and the sauce on each child's pizza crust and let the fun begin.  My kids usually make faces on theirs and keep me busy cutting pepperoni to look like ears  or eye brows or something.  They don't take long to bake, either.  We do these when the boys' have sleepovers, kids love being able to make their pizzas.

  11. chocolate rice crackles & fairy bread for treats!! or a fondue!!

Snacks? hmm Pizza on pitta bread! they can put their fav flavours on & a good oportunity to try new toppings!

  12. tuna pasta!

with a side of plate of a big white onion-sliced. sprinkled with a pinch of salt & marinate in lemon juice!

a bag of LAYS chip would be nice too.
