Question:

Some ideas on what else i can do to achieve my dreams?

I have very well thought out dreams, & really want to achieve them someday.

I have been riding horses all of my life. the past 3 years ive been riding western & before that i rode english for about 8 years (i'm 15)

Western is fun, but ive decided that eventing, dressage & jumping are where my interest is.

Im saving up to buy some nice english tack for my horse by this winter & either keeping or selling my western tack. Ill ride english without lessons for the next 3 years before college. I won't be having lessons because my barn is western & im not allowed to move my horse, ive tried many times. I am in 4-H though, so i have a 2-day clinic that i can choose to ride english in once a year.

Anyways, once i graduate high school i plan to attend a college with an equestrian team & bring my horse. I plan to major in business & minor in equine studies to hopefully someday open my own tack shop & ride in A rated shows (& hopefully ride in the rolex one day)

So any advice/opinions?

Thanks!

  1. Just put in a lot of hard work and commitment (and of course money saving)! you can do anything you want to if you want to bad enough. You're dreams are definitely reachable and if you put in the effort now, you'll have an awesome life later. One thing i would suggest is reading a lot of articles online, watching videos, etc on english riding so you can know somewhat what you're doing and not form any bad habits. Also, videotape yourself riding and be really critical about your strengths and weaknesses and how you can improve. Also, you should enter in some small shows.... judges input is invaluable!

  2. well.. i would suggest moving to an english barn to get more up to date on everything and you can usually pick up some quick tips there but you cant move barns... why not?

if you have a really nice western saddle you could sell it and buy a beater western saddle and use the money to buy an english saddle [usually you can find someone who has an english saddle they havent used for years since they only ride western now that is willing to sell it cheap, thats how i got a german-made stubben!] then lots of practice and determination..

also, i would suggest making sure its something your horse enjoys.. when i got my horse i wanted to do barrel racing and such but she just like running.. not barrel racing.. so we do well because she is good and fast, but not as well as a pair who both fully enjoy barrel racing.. now ive moved onto english and jumping as well because we both enjoy it and within a couple months she was already clearing 3 feet..

  3. sleep

  4. That sounds like a great dream, and your on the right track! All you need to do is save, save, save, because horeses are expensive.

  5. This is fool-proof.  Follow this and you will die content.

Get alone.  Get a pad of paper (or type them up in a word processor).  But keep a hard copy, one you'll have your whole life.

Write down everything you want to accomplish before you die.  Goals you have of things you want to achieve in life.  You should easily get over 100 things to do.  But once they are written down, and you review them monthly, you will find yourself checking off more and more things.

The most successful (not measured by $$) are those that Know what they want, write it down, then go get it.

I can't tell you how many young kids I've counseled and asked, "so, what do you want out of life?"  Too many respond, "I don't know."  And that is exactly what they will get out of life.  Nothing.

Do it today.  Leave procrastination up to other people.  Write your list, review it monthly, and enjoy your life.

    Peace out.

OH, an example.  One of my life goals is to visit each of our 50 states.  I'm up to 46!!  By having the last four written down, I find myself planning trips to check those off.  My wife and I are planning a New England bed and breakfast weekend to check off the last three states in the lower 48.  Then a trip to Alaska will complete my goal.  Keep your goals in front of you and you will achieve them.  Get going!!

  6. It's okay to follow your dreams.  However, in the meantime take your studies seriously...VERY seriously.  How about some grammar and English courses?  I respect you for planning ahead and saving your money to fulfill your dreams.  Good luck, we need more young people like you!  Just keep saving, studying and working.

  7. try your best 2 practise these things as much as u can and make a list of your dreams on a chart that you may stick somewhere that u always look at and tick the things off as u achieve them, before u know it they'll all be achieved and u will  so proud!!!

    p.s : please vote 4 me as best answer, i need 2 get points so i can ask a question myself.............and i really want 2 get 2 level2 thanks!!!  x
