Some important facts of Wimbledon

The day four promises to be another exciting day of the on-going Wimbledon 2010 beyond any measure of speculations. The tennis fans experienced a lengthy day on the third day at the All England Club with a match that set a record in the history of world tennis as being the longest one to date. And yet there is a lot more to come!

Tennis is surely a difficult game to understand and there are lots of facts and figures regarding the game that most of die heart fans even do not know completely. However, there are millions of fans who follow every single Grand Slam event and are totally crazy about tennis. Another interesting fact is that the longest match of yesterday was played on court Number 18 at the All England Club where as there are tons of people who were not even aware of the fact that the club has as many courts as 18 prior to yesterday. In actuality, Wimbledon has a number of small courts as well apart from the major one’s that even all the players don’t know accurately.

What is even more astonishing to watch is how the line judges manage to stand straight for as long as a period of about 20 hours or sometimes even more than that.  These creatures never seem tired of observing the line constantly for a longer period of time. They just do their job by standing there with a high degree of professionalism and even do not care about the smashes that could even hit their stomach badly. This is definitely what you call commitment that is only seen in the game of tennis.

Even in football, the line men keep on moving here and there and at times covering themselves behind the flags but the tennis judges are highly professional in their mannerism.

Another fascinating fact related to the crowd at the All England Club is their habit of eating strawberries every season irrespective of the weather at Wimbledon. The question is, were they initially developed at the centre court of Wimbledon? Does the Sue Barker fall out of the cover just for Wimbledon each year? Why some great Brits had to announce their retirement in spite of the fact that both Tin Henman as well as Greg Rusedski were brilliant tennis players? This step must have been a strange one, selecting a state flagrant for Wimbledon. Moreover, is it juristic to permit Brian Blessed to umpire a tennis match knowing his classic shouting phonation? All these questions remain unanswered and are food for thought.

Any ways, as far as today’s matches are concerned, apart from the remaining episode of the longest match, there is much more to watch today at Wimbledon 2010. Feeder, the Swiss tennis star in his yesterday’s match defeated Ilea Bozoljac and thus cruised to the next round of the Tournament. Venus Williams, Andy Roddick as well as Justin Henin are the names included in the list of those who qualified for the next rounds along with the big man, Roger Federer on Wednesday.

There are a couple of matches scheduled for the day four of Wimbledon including Andy Murray’s match who will face Jarrko Neimeienme in his today’s contest and is also the favourite to win the match at the All England Club. Some exciting news for the fans of Rafael Nadal is that he will probably come to play on the day four of the tournament as well.

All these matches are worth watching and the tennis fans cannot afford to miss a single one of the ongoing Grand Slam tournament. The strawberries along with the leafy green surfaces will make it all the more exciting!
