  1. There are  layers of the Earth.

The top is called the crust,,, that is the lithosphere where we live.

Underneathe the crust it is the mantle.

Under the mantle there is the core. Outer core and the inner core.

The mantle is liquidy... its rocks and iron and metals but because of the heat given off by the core,, it melted. This is waht comes out of the volcano, lava. On the mantle there are also continental parts which drift because of the flowing mantle. This is what cause earthquakes.

  2. Please visit the following site which describes wonderfully well the structure of earth:

    http://scign.jpl.nasa.gov/learn/plate1.h...

  3. The top layer is the crust which is only a few miles thick, about 80 at the top of large mountain ranges bout maybe only 20 at the bottom of the ocean.

Beneath that is the mantle which is mainly made up of rock, some of it is definately molten but I am not sure if all of it is (this is were lava from volcanoes comes from) and benath that is the outer core which is all molten iron and in the centre is the inner core which is made of solid iron. It is solid because there is such a large force pushing in on it from the rest of the planet.

  4. The crust forms a solid, rocky outer skin.Beneath the oceans,it is approximately 7 km thick.Beneath the continents it is 35--40 km thick.

Next comes the mantle which is 2900 km thick and makes up  more than 82 percent of earth's volume. It consists of molten rock called magma.

Next comes the core which is divided into a hot liquid,iron-rich outer core and a solid inner core.

The crust and the top layer of the mantle form a cool, rigid layer called lithosphere. The upper mantle forms a heat-softened layer called asthenosphere.
