  1. no being an MA will actually hurt you in most cases.  for one,  Civilians do things differently, and MAs are NOT cops.  they focus on Force protection now additionally.   most police academies require a 4 year degree more than they require  military experience.

BTW, MA is full and advancement sucks.   you may not even have the option at MEPS.

  2. Nope. My hubby was an MA and he has to go thru the entire process to be a cop just like a regular civilian. He checked that out also cause when he got out, he thought the same thing. The only thing the Navy does is give you extra "points"

  3. Yes it should qualify you to be a cop.

You will be a Military Cop and get expierence in police work, what police office would not want to hire you?

Good luck on becoming a Master At Arms, that s***s tough.

  4. Yes this will qualify you!! any experience that you gain in the navy its gonna help u a lot!!!!!Good Luck

  5. any military experience will help you get into any public service positions, master at arms will definatley look good on an application for police. but so will military police

  6. find the rating that matches what you like...mechanics? go MM..., electronics? go ET, etc...

  7. Kammy is right. Although the MA will give you police experience, the law the military enforces and the law the civilians enforce are a little different. Being an MA will not GET you a civilian police job, bu will show that you have experience in the field and will give you a better standing against Joe Blow outta high school. I know plenty of cops who were former MP's and they have no problem. The process mentioned before is that you will still have to do police academy and apply like everyone else, they won't just hand you a badge and gun, but you will shine above the other applicants.
