  1. any of the following have always worked well for me......

tape a large amt of bubble wrap on the floors, use different sized of bubbles--play some celebration type music--may be some patriotic music or some marching music(this activity also works well for 4th of july)

depending on the age of the children make poppers, or other type of party favors

using black construction paper and a variety of glitters, or varing sizes and make fireworks pictures

using all the old bits and pieces of scrap paper make large collages(so you start the new year with all new supplies)

make some appetizers with the children and then with the premade party favors have a party....some simple appetizers are muffin pizzas, chex mixes/trail mixes, cookies, etc

  2. Start on a 2007 scrapbook. Make individual ones or one big family one. Throughout the year 2007 keep memories in the book and keep in chronological order and label with a caption and a date for each memory. Decorate the book and its pages throughout the year. If you can, make a video/digital scrapebook.

  3. You could get out some streamers and party hats and since most kids don't stay up at Midnight you could have them shout happy New Year at 12 noon to give the concept that at 12 at night it was new years

You could have the children do a collage of what they done in the past year and have them describe what was the most exciting or what do they want to do in the next year. You could cut out pictures from Magazines to make the collage or use your imagination.

  4. buy ps3 and let them play all day

  5. Playing outside and not twiddling their fingers over game controllers.

  6. You can make a paper chains, paper hats, and make a happy new year banner using paper plates, markers, crayons, glitters, glue and yarn. It will be a wonderful project for all children.

  7. Counting the stars

  8. New Year Hats

Make cone hats from construction paper and let the children dectorate them using a variety of materials, such as paper scraps, crepe or tissue paper, sequins, pompons, etc.

    Confetti Collage

Glue confetti and glitter onto a sheet of paper.

  9. Well, when I was little, I would go to bed and sleep.

But as we got older, we were allowed to stay up and play board games, watch a movie, and at midnight we would get soda in a goblet to "celebrate."

Depending on the age, you decide which is best!

    Happy New Year!

  10. reflecting on the past year, they could do a collage on what happened in their life last year and do another one for the new year about what they expect and what they want to happen can be as real or fictional as their imaginations. Then put it away and look at it at the end of the year. it can be interesting funny, very silly or thoughtful. Good luck.xxxx
