Also they are quite soft. Is it some kind of fungus or a cosmetic problem only? My finger nails are fine. Thanks in advance.

  1. Do you polish your nails?  If so, stop for a while.  The yellow can be stains from polish.  If you do have a fungus or mold.  Keep them uncovered as much as possible.  The darkness and dampness promote that type of growth (which you don't want).  Push your cuticles back every day (don't be wimpy about it) Use an orange wood stick or something similar.  If after a month the part that is growing out does not look better than the old part then I would consider seeing a doctor. There are all sorts of creams and oils that are out there, I have found Tea Tree Oil to be the best.  The most important thing is to get the bad part to grow off as quickly as possible by pushing the cuticles back and trimming the free edge (strait across)

This will help you figure out if your problem is internal or external.  Hope that helps you out.

Also, If it is an internal problem it may not show up on all of your nails.  And never use the same implements on your nails that are not effected.  Depending on what the problem is, you don't want to spread it to the un effected nails.

Do an Internet search for Nail Disorders and try to find photos.  If you see something that looks like what you have, it may give a more detailed explanation along with some tips on prevention and treatment.

  2. White dots can mean lack of Zn in your body. If it's only on your toes, it's really possible it's fungus. If it's so, the nail is white or yellow, later it frazzles and crumbles away. It also hurts, when you put pressure on the toe with fungus. You should always perfectly dry your toes, wear open shoes etc. here are some more information: http://www.drfoot.co.uk/fungus%20nails.h...

But it can be caused by polishing, bad treatment, antibiotics, by liver illnesses, nicotine etc. But if it was caused by health problems, you would see the change also on your finger nails.

If you polish your nails too much, agressive clean under the nails, push your cuticle back etc., try to not do it for a while, if also then it's the same, ask the doctor.
