Some of the Olympic athletes already went back to their countries. Will they be at the closing ceremony?

I'm in Japan right now, and on the news, there's a ton of stuff about people coming back here from Beijing. Will they go back to Beijing for the closing ceremony or will they not participate?Just wondering...

i dont think theyre going back. if they planned on attending they would have stayed as that would be more convenient to do than to deal with the hassle and expense of flying back

Some people had to leave.  I know the U.S. fencers had to go back because of school.  I know for some there's tournaments coming up so they need to go back and practice (U.S. Open).  

I thought about that today and I was a little sad because I won't see a all of my favorites.  Everyone I wanted to see have left because they had no choice.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking they won't come back.  Plane tickets are expensive.  Maybe it is different in Japan since it is relatively close to China.
