Here are the some of the best deadline deals during the past few seasons in the National Hockey League.
Brain Campbell for Steve Bernier
The San Jose Sharks were in need of an attacking defenceman which they saw very well in Buffalo Sabres' Brain Campbell.
As the Sharks made their way into the play-offs in 2006, they were a little on the back foot but the addition of Brain Campbell gave them the diversity they needed.
The deal saw Steve Bernier being the main players who was traded to the Sabres with another first round pick in the talented Tyler Ennis also moved to the Sabres.
Campbell came up with a brilliant performance during the course of the remaining part of the season that he played in.
The 20 games he played in saw him scoring 19 points and a decent performance during the play-offs resulted in the Sharks making their way into the second round.
However, even though they came up with a strong performance, they couldn’t get past the Dallas Stars as they lost the series after six games.
The performance turned out to be the best during the play-offs and saw him being traded to the current defending champions in Chicago Blackhawks.
Brad Stuart for the 2nd and 4th round picks
February 28th 2008 witnessed the Detroit Red Wings acquire the services of Brad Stuart. Stuart was a key member of the Los Angeles Kings but the mouth watering offering which saw the Kings land with the 2nd and 4th draft
picks during the trade saw them readily give Stuart.
Stuart was a very established and skillful player at the time that came up with a brilliant performance.
He started to play the key role in the Red Wings rosters as they progressed into the play-offs. During the course of the play-offs, he came up with absolutely gem of a performance that got them past some of the giants in the league at the time.
The 2008 campaign proved to be very fruitful as the Red Wings won the Stanly Cup in 2008.
After winning the Cup, some thought the Red Wings would be too complacent and not come up with the dominating performance that they showed in the 2007-08 season.
However, under the skillful and experienced guidance of Stuart, the Red Wings managed to come up with good performance during the course of the next season that saw them making their way into the play-offs easily.
Red Wings made it into the Finals after a superb performance in the play-off but unfortunately lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
