Some of the greatest undersized players in the NBA – Part 5
Clarence Weatherspoon, power forward
Though Clarence Weatherspoon wasn’t among some of the tall men in the NBA but still much to the surprise of many he was made the 9th pick in the 1992 NBA draft pick. He stood at an average height of 6 feet 6 inches.
Weatherspoon turned out to be one of the beasts in the NBA history managing to come up with a very productive career during which he came up with 193 double-doubles which put him in the 57th slot for doing so in the all time list. He was a very
physical player though he couldn’t manage to compete with them on size but strength was the main essence of his game which enabled him to achieve a lot of success in a very competitive NBA.
At the end of his career he maintained decent averages of 11.5 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game, 1 steal per game and 0.9 blocks per game. He was one of the big men in the list of undersized men and with the dominating and productive performance has
been able to cement his place in list of greatest undersized players in the NBA.
Terrell Brandon, point guard
Terrell Brandon was one of the troubled little men in the NBA. An injury prone player but with a lot of talent for which he was widely appreciate. This is the thing that earned him 11 years in the NBA despite the injuries and despite his small 5 feet 11
inches frame.
During the 11 years career in the NBA, Brandon managed to notch up a place in the All-Star team twice. His career wasn’t as productive as some of the others on the list but the energy and hard work he put in certainly make him worthy of the spot. He maintained
an average of 13.8 points per game, 6.1 assists per game and 1.6 steals per game.
The amazing thing about him was that during the 11 seasons in the NBA he managed to take the teams he played for into play-offs on 10 occasions which is quite impressive keeping in mind the structure of the player. These all things certainly make him one
of the best undersized players that the NBA world has seen during the course of its entire history.
Damon Stoudemire, point guard
Damon Stoudemire was 5 feet 10 inches but was among some of the best point guards in the league at the time. Damon was named Mighty Mouse and was flooded with loads of talent and skill.
Stoudemire had an immediate impact in the NBA as soon which earned him the Rookie of the Year award in 1996. This was due to his splendid performance during the course of the season which saw him scoring 19 points per game, dishing 9.3 assists, notching
4 rebounds per game, 1.9 three pointers per game and 1.4 steals per game.
Though he was a small man physically but established his reputation of being the little-big man in the business. He ended his career maintaining an average of 13.4 points per game, 6.1 assists per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, 1.4 three pointers per game
and 1.1 steals during his career.
