Question:

Some of the metal domes beneath my cooktop burners have corroded. Are these replaceable?

I am talking about the little metal domes next to the ignition pilot beneath the ceramic portion of the burner. They are where the gas comes out of, I guess, and I have some that are rusted. How can they be replaced? Someone told me I have to buy a new cooktop, and I thought this was ridiculous.

  1. You can purchase the metal (I think they're called burner bases) at almost any multipurpose store.  I've always replaced them when I moved out of an apartment for example so I'm leaving new ones.  Fred Meyer, I think target, probably home depot etc. would all have them.  I purchased them for around $8 each.  HTH :)
