Some of the underrated power forwards in the NHL – part 1
Teams like Detroit Red Wings, Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks and the Philadelphia Flyers who are categorized as giants of the NHL have some players in the roster who are capable of performing more than they are asked to. Some of the players in the
respective teams can play in more than one position and despite this they are not giving the level of appreciation they deserve.
In this article, we will be discussing some of the players who are basically power forwards are underrated. We won’t be mentioning players like Rick Nash or Joe Thornton as they are among some of the best players in the league who perform their duties to
the fullest and to the best of the abilities.
David Backes, St. Louis Blues
David Backes is one of those players in the NHL who has improved quite a lot over the course of time. With his regular performances game after game he has caught the eyes of many. Given the amount of talent he has, this season he has used it to the best
o his abilities.
This season has proved to be the best season of his career and the most productive. Not only has he shined for the St. Louis Blues with his dominating performances but while playing for the American national team, he has won the silver medal. The level of
performances he is coming up with, he has established the reputation of being a very strong offensive player.
David Backes has had the honour of playing under some greats in this sport like Doug Weight which has helped him a great deal. His week in and week out productive performance earned him his first All-Star performance of his career this last weekend. David
Backes for improved performances during the course of the off-season was given the responsibility of going on ice as assistant captain. Not only this, but he was also given an extension at the St. Louis Blues which means that he would continue to play for
the St. Louis Blues for some more time.
Milan Lucic, Boston Bruins
Milan Lucic is one of the players in the NHL who is flooded with loads of talent. He is a well built and among some of the big forwards in the NHL who at the age of 22 years has still a lot to offer the Boston Bruins. During the course of the current season,
he has caught the eyes of many NHL greats. He is still had room for improvement and with each passing game he is expected to get better and better.
Last season was very difficult for him as he was one of the injury prone players in the league. However, this season he has emerged as one of the consistent and productive performers in the NHL. Currently, he is ranked among the top 20 players in the league
in terms of goals scored.
Though some might argue that his career isn’t one of the greatest but the reason for this is the fact that he hasn’t had the chance to go through a complete season without any injury. This season he is in the best of shapes and if he continues to do what
he has been so far then we have a legend developing.
Boston Bruins currently have had great benefit from this player as they are guaranteed a place in the play-offs as long as they keep on playing decent ice hockey. They have done all the hard work with Milan Lucic playing a major role in it.
