  1. If your car doesn't have them installed then check with the local dealership to make sure they didn't get removed by someone. If the build up by the manufacture did not include seat belts then they are not needed.. for a few years seat belts were options so make sure you take you ser# with you.

  2. As long as they did not come with the vehicle from the factory then you can drive them and it is not illegal to do so.

  3. if the mfg. did not put belts in it is legal to drive them without. I think it was in the late 50's they started to put then in

  4. No,not if it was made that way.

  5. the law specifies that if the car hasn't been fitted with a seat belt when it left the assembly line, you are allowed to drive this car wherever and whenever you want, if it has been given a license plate prior to the date of introduction of seat belts

  6. If it wasn't in the car when it left the assembly line, you can drive the car legally without it.

Early cars didn't have blinkers or mirrors, or windshields, or seatbelts... You can still drive them. They are exempt.

  7. First, keep in mind that many states do not have laws requiring safety belt use. In states where this is required, it applies only to cars that were originally equipped with safety belts. Of course, this is the vast majority of cars on the road, since seat belts were first mandated in 1968, and shoulder belts a few years after that. So if you are driving a car that was not originally equipped with safety belts (as opposed to one that was built with them but had them removed) you will not be in violation of a mandatory seat belt law. Of course, you will still be less safe than you would be in a car with safety belts and other modern safety features (airbags, crumple zones, etc.)

  8. 1965 is the first year that seat belts are mandated for the front seat passengers, 67 they added rear seat belts
