  1. drugs and alchohol have helped me with my depression

  2. DRUGS and ALCOHOL won't solve anything!!!!

Why not try something new? Are you single? If so date someone, just a casual date.

Go skydiving... do research first because you want a very experienced instructor.

    Clubs? Bars?

Chat with people. Sometimes that helps because it's people you don't know and never have to see. If you need anyone to chat with I wouldn't mind, send me an IM.

  3. Seek professional help as quickly as you can.  Talk to a psychiatrist.  Perhaps taking some sort of medication while working with a therapist would put you on the road to recovery.  There is a reason you're getting these feelings.  You need to make it very clear to those you love that you need help.  Mental illness//depression can set in at any time in one's life.  You can not control the way you feel.  There's a difference between grief and depression.  Based on what you are saying you are exhibiting signs of mental illness.  The first thing to go when you suffer from any mental problems is your concentration.  Your mind also plays a huge role when it comes to your body, which would describe the irregularities in your heart rate.  Typically, medication combined with psychotherapy is the best way to a sound mind.  You made a step in the right direction by reaching out for advice.  After that, it gets easier.

  4. Look for new directions, maybe it's just the inner you crying out.-- Dr. Fill.

  5. I kinda know how you feel. I felt life was pointless. Try getting a hobby like swimming, yoga, cycling or something creative. Get a good book to read or get a holiday. Try talking to somebody about it, even if you feel you can't talk to family or friends theres still loads of people who will listen and help you through this. Hope you feel better soon.

  6. You should see a Psychiatrist. You may have undiagnosed Major Depressive Disorder or Bipolar Disorder. And don't feel ashamed to see a Psychiatrist... they are real doctors who went to Medical School and then chose to specialize in Psychiatry. Depression is a serious illness and there is medication and therapy out there to help you. Most people with depression go untreated when there are many treatment options out there to help you.

As far as drugs and alcohol go... That's what we call "self medicating" and it will only make you more depressed (and addicted) in the long run.

  7. think of all the positive things in your life you have achieved and the positive things yet to come. Try an activity that will put your mind off the depression.

  8. Try something new.  Get out and live life.  Depression cannot always be helped by changing things.  Sometimes people living with depression are unable to help themselves.  There are several programs out there offering assistance.  Check in your local neighborhood, talk to your doctor, or a friend or family member.  Don't let it go untreated or it will take over your life!

  9. Being depressed can have one or two components. Sometimes people are depressed for valid reasons like something terrible happened and they are in grief or their life isn't going the way they would like it to. Another reason people get depressed is chemical. The chemistry in your brain can have changed for various reasons (your diet, changes in hormones, changes in exercise or not exercising) and that can be a major factor. Based on what you have described it sounds like you should work on the brain chemistry portion of it first.

Many people, when they get depressed, go and get anti-depressants prescribed, which I feel is a mistake UNTIL you have eliminated other causes first. For instance, many people that have suffered from depression have B vitamin deficiency (especially B-12) and out of that group some of them have difficulty digesting and getting a proper amount of B-12 through food. Getting a Sublingual B-12 and B-6 supplement is a good idea. I say Sublingual because it's the only way to get it into your blood stream if you can't properly absorb it through digestion. (it dissolves under your tongue and directly into your bloodstream)

It is also a good idea to take a multivitamin (preferrably liquid) for about a month or two until you are feeling better.

Another really important thing to do is go outside and sit in the sun for 15 minutes everyday. Most people that get depressed are Vitamin D deficient and the best way to get Vitamin D is to sit in the sun.

Also, if you are feeling depressed it's important to exercise really hard for twenty minutes every day. It will help you feel better and your concentration will be increased as well.

One thing that I have found that really helps is to take Omega Fish Oils. Trader Joe's, if you have one around where you live, makes the best stuff and it's not very expensive. About 7 gelcaps a day for a month will get your brain into a better place. You can't really overdose on it or anything, it's just healthy fat, the kind that increases healthy cholesterol and helps eliminate the bad and it's good for your brain and your heart.

Last but not least, you need to give yourself permission to dream and to BE. If you are not happy you can have a better life. Everyday that you are breathing is another chance to do so.

  10. well let me start off saying i suffer from surver depression so i know what you are talking about. Everyone gets depressed. As for the slowing down of your breath thats anxiety. Try to hang out with your friends and family more. You should also try to talk to some one. Family member, friend, counciler, or anyone you can trust. Just try it. you will be fine soon.

    good luck
