Some one help on what I need to do!?

I'm writing a story and I was just wondering the basics of English.

for example: He was walking on a small narrow path.

would it be like that or would it have a comma at the end of small?

He was walking on a small, narrow path.

do you take a little breath in between small and narrow when you read it out loud? if so, the comma is the right thing to do.

A comma would be optional. (That means you can put one or not and still be correct.)
