Some one please explain football??!!?

American football, of course. I nee a clear eplanation so I can actually tell what's going on- for american football. I'm going to a football game today and I want very badly o know what's going on but I don't get the whole 'touchdown' 'running yards' thing.

Football is played on a field that is 100 yards long. The field is marked off in 10 yard incerments, going 50 yards each way(50-40-30-20-10-0) (0-10-20-30-40-50)

Each team is given 4 downs to try to make a 1st down.( 1st-2nd-3rd-4th down)

A 1st down is gotten when a team goes 10 yards or more.

Each team tries to go down the field and score points by a touchdown,  or field goal. (the defense tries to stop them)

Touchdowns are worth 6 points, field goals 3 points.

Also when a team scores a touchdown they can kick a field goal for an extra point (1 point), or try to get in the end Zone for a 2 point conversion. (Thus making 7 points or 8 points total)

There is also a safety when the team player with the ball gets tackled in the end zone by the defense that is worth 2 points.

Football has two main parts offense and defense.

Offense is the team trying to score points, defense is the team trying to stop the offense from scoring.
