Some one please explain to me what Obama about AK-47s?

Question

Is he going to protect the second amendment by passing new laws, bring'n back the ban, or by increased enforcement of the laws on the book? Just wandering what that part of his speech meant.

By "band guys" are you talking about marching bands or symphonic bands?  I don't have a problem with a cellist packing a bit of heat, but there is just something about those guys with the triangles I just don't trust.

I think what he said was, people dont need AK 47's. he was trying to compromise, and said we can have guns, just assault rifles.

AK-47 guns are illegal for private citizens to own or possess.

The fact that criminals still manage to get AK-47 guns shows that merely passing more laws against guns will not take illegal guns out of the hands of criminals.

Obama clearly has no idea how to prevent criminals from obtaining AK-47 guns.

Obama really wants to prevent law abiding people from owning all types of guns.

Obama's proposals would do nothing to take guns out of the hands of criminals.

Obama's proposals would only prevent law abiding citizens from owning guns.

He just used ak-47's as a stand in for any weapon....just an example. he supports the 2nd amendment....he does NOT support violent criminals having access to guns.

Barack Obama is straight out of the corrupt Chicago political machine.  He is adamantly opposed to the idea of American citizens having quality firearms as that could lead to a couple things, one is that we might shoot criminals and the other is that we might shoot corrupt government officials.  Both of which are the core of Obama's supporters.

A fully automatic AK-47 is already illegal in all 50 states. He was saying he wants to go after all semi-auto guns like my 9 year old's .22 rifle

Obama is preying on the weak minded to try to get them to believe that AK-47s are easily available to criminals. This is how he plans to force a semi-automatic gun ban on congress and the nation. He knows many people don’t even know the difference between a real AK-47 (which is virtually impossible to legally obtain) and an ordinary civilian version of the rifle that is only SEMI-automatic. There is a huge difference, but most people don't realize it and it gives him an excuse to ban them just because they "look" scary. Obama is a strong supporter of renewing the so-called assault weapons ban and also making it more broad so it also bans most defensive handguns and target rifles.

He supports the 2nd amendment. Obama said he recognized that it's tradition in many parts of the country, hunting for the sport of it, but also to regulate and enforce it more so weapons don't fall into the hands of criminals.

It was a well-balanced and very bipartisan point actually.
