  1. When this has happened to me, I simply removed the rust with a paper towel soaked in olive or vegetable oil, which removed the offensive stuff and seasoned the pan all at once.  Place in hot oven for a few hours  (preheat oven to 400 degrees, put pan in and turn it off)  Remove when cooled.

  2. Make a paste of water and bicarbonate of soda and leave it for an hour or so.

Thank scrub gently in hot soapy water.

    repeat if necessary.

  3. scrub it with a wire brush to remove all the rust, reseason as you would a new one.  It will be just fine.  Years ago it was usual practice to scrub them with sand.  This cleaned the debris off but didn't remove the seasoning.

  4. Scrub it with steel wool to get the rust out. Dry with a paper towel, then add a little oil to the pan and using a paper towel spread it over entire inside to season.

  5. Scrub all the rust off & place it over the hotplate on your cook top right away, before it can dry. When it dries thoroughly, rub cooking oil all over the cooking surface& it shouldn't rust. Do this everytime you use it.

  6. scrub all the rust off it and wash it again with a cloth you dont care about in the sink in hot soapy water. Then try seasoning it again on the inside and outside.
