When I call my insurance company they are asking me to directly get in touch with the other driver's insurance company.

If they talk with other insurance company they said I need to pay my deducatible ($500).

Please let me know Is it how normarlly insurance company works?.

My next question is, the other driver didn't report to her insurance company yet. She was driving a truck. But the other insurance company said the truck is not registered with their insurance company, they told me that she only has a Car. My question is will I get reimibursed for my damage even if the truck is not registered?

  1. Your insurance company is telling you that you need to pay your deductible even if they do not pay out anything, and they just "talk" with the other company?   I think you have misinterpreted what they are telling you.

If you go through your own carrier, your deductible will apply.  Since you are not at fault for the accident, they will subrogate against the at fault party and recover what was paid and your deductible.

Insurance does not usually follow the driver unless you are talking Uninsured/Underinsured motorist coverage in some states.  Generally in the US, it follows the vehicle.  You need to contact the other driver and find out what insurer insures the vehicle.  Perhaps she was confused and provided you with incorrect information.

No you will not get reimbursed if the vehicle that was involved in the accident was not covered under the insurance.

  2. civil suit

  3. Typically, insurance follows the driver. SHE is insured, not her car.

  4. well no if the truck was no longer insured with the insurance company it is no longer there issue to deal with

if it turns out the person didn't have insurance you need to get a estimate for the damage and contact the other person if they do not have insurance you may need to go to court to get your repairs done

you need to inform your insurance company of the damage and get a police report but if they are not paying due to the other party being at fault you can leave them out of it(keeping your rates low(er))

unless you choose to let them deal with it this may/may not get your car repaired faster depends on the company

what you don't want is your insurance to repair the car and then receive a letter informing you that because the other party was not insured you now have a bill

with some legal advise on what you should do to make the other party reimburse you(court) at the bottom

    goodluck
