  1. First Identify the cause of the yellowing. It could be dog urine, it could be Grubs eating the roots, it could be a fungus, it could be as simple as a lack of water. It might be alot of things, we need more info.

Some people have spread WAY too much fertilizer on their lawns during summer months, causing their lawn to burn.

    Again, more info.

  2. How big are the spots? Do they have a dark ring around them?

  3. Just wait a few days, it may come back up.  Mine usually does.  My grand kid leaves his t-ball stand out in the yard and creates dead spots, but in a week or so they usually come back.

  4. Rake out the old dead grass and overseed with new grass seed.  This will grow back quickly.

  5. rake up the area to loosen the dirt alittle.

get some seed and spread it around.

throw alittle straw over it to help retain moisture and keep it watered. it'll grow in a week or two.

leave the straw. mow over it when the grass is doing ok, the straw will mulch into the soil.

should have picked up that dead grass, eh? ;0)
