For years I could tell the truth and not be believed (only by certain immediate) family members. A few days ago,I was asked a question and just to see if it was believed,I fibbed. It was believed. I said "I don't believe it!" They said "What?". I say "I tell the truth & nobody believes me, but one lie and you believe it". I get the reply "Don't ever do that again, you hear me?"

If the truth isn't going to be believed, and I'm told not to lie. What should I reply next time? Should I say "I don't know" or say that I'll have to look it up?"

  1. Oh I so understand you! They do this to me as well. I would say the next time they ask, tell them "I couldn't say." If they ask why, just tell them "Because you told me not to lie and since you don't believe me when I tell the truth, I'm deciding to keep it all to myself from now on."

If they keep asking questions, pretend they aren't there. They'll either give up or give in and listen to you next time you tell the truth. It all depends on how they are.

People can be quite ignorant at times. I think it's the denial thing, but who knows for sure.

  2. My opinion, keep telling the truth. I believe that people just doesn't know how to handle the truth, that is why it is easier to believe a lie. Also most of the time a lie is much easier to deal with, you may not have to do something at all or not as much by lying. Not pointing at anyone at all. My opinion.

  3. people believe the easiest thing to believe (ie jesus instead of science)

  4. Just keep on telling the truth. Sometimes the truth hurts? And lies are more comforting? I don't think anyone can truly answer this for you, but the truth is always better. I don't really believe that no one believes you, and if you actually are telling the truth, then I just proved your point, lol.

  5. A lively, moving story should never be allowed to get in the way of the facts, in politics and, often, in broadcast news.

  6. The majority of people believe what they want to believe!

However, a convincing liar, or an appealing lie certainly go down well with people, in general.

Another way of putting it... just tell people what they want to hear, and lie or truth, they believe it.

Just go on telling the truth....  Why would you become a liar  to please stupid people.  Rather say to them when they accuse you of lying... it is up you to prove it.  To the best of my knowledge, what I said is the truth..... If you want to make a liar of me... No can do+

  7. oh the whole world lies, darling. you must discover the truth yourself

  8. Because the truth is oftenly our beliefs are mostly of about ourselves, of what was said 'What we believe' and not really about of 'What you believe'. Therefore it is of self interest, not really for the other.

For what we only always believe are those matters that makes it only right for us. Even if it is proven not really right to others.

So some people were provoked of mistrust that affects real worthy people..with honest deeds or thoughts.
