  1. I would ask the nieghbors if they would like your help taking care of the horses.... do it for no cost... its work with horses so its worth everything.... that way you can get a close look... help them if you can, if in doubt call animal control repeatedly!

  2. Call animal control again or your local horse rescue. Continue to contact these agencies. You need to be the voice for this helpless animal. Remember: "The squeaky wheel gets the grease." Please squeak as loud as you can!

  3. i agree with the person that said call aspca

  4. You have to find out what the laws are in your area.  In some places you don't even have to provide covered shelter for a horse.  Whether or not the horse can be kept in a neighborhood depends on how the property is zoned.  Horses are kept in stables in large cities with no turnout...the only time they are out of a stall is when they go to work.

A horse can be fed hay only, or hay combined with grain or pelleted feed.  As long as feed and decent water are provided, you may have no basis for a complaint in your area.

  5. call the ASPCA..they are more likely to do something than regular animal control.

  6. Try animal control again and call your local horse rescue. The only way they can remove the animal is if the animal does not have food, water, or shelter. We called animal control once on a dog that was left outside, but they could not do anything because the dog had a bowl of water.

    Good luck.

  7. go confront them. tell them to take care of their horses.

  8. I need you to email me. animalsrock60@yahoo.com or bffshay@yahoo.com i might be able to help.

  9. Call the county and find out the telephone number of the Animal Control Department and report it.

But first make sure the horse is really mistreated.

  10. Are you sure they are never taking it anywhere else? Not inside somewhere at night to feed it? They aren't feeding it? How small is the pen? It doesn't have to be a huge paddock- as long as they are giving it hay, grain, etc. then grass isn't an issue. If you are in a place where you are allowed to have barn animals, and the animal isn't being beaten, starved, etc. then they are perfectly within the law. Just be sure they are actually not caring for it- You sound sure but you wouldn't want to falsely accuse them.

What did animal control say when you called them? Call again, or call the police. Yes there are zoning laws- unless your house is in an agricultural area (certain places are in agricultural areas and you can only have "barnyard" animals in those places."). Good luck... Nothing gets on my nerves more than people that don't care for their animals. I hope those people are never allowed to have another horse again.

  11. look see if you can see the horses ribs etc

don't jump into anything as it may have health poblems so can't eat grass etc

check if it has acess to water and shelter

don't jump to any conclusions and point the finger where it's not diserved

  12. It depends on the area you live in and the bylaws in that neighborhood if a person can keep livestock within city limits.

how small is this pen? Because horses can stay in paddocks as long as they sufficient water and some sort of shelter. No grass isn't a big deal as long as the horse is being fed hay or some other sort of feed such as alfalfa Cubes...

Is the horse skinny - can you easily see ribs, is his hind end - in the hid area hollowed out?

This can be a sign of malnutrition
