circumstance (whether or not he wanted the children). My question is why do we also have an acceptance (from many of the same people) of work benefits and help, as well as government help and exemptions? (which obviously will detract financially and otherwise from other citizens not involved)

How is that neither ironic nor hypocritical?

  1. Men shouldn't be careless, but the ultimate responsibility for birth control has to be with the woman. That's why it's ridiculous for men to automatically have child-support liabilities even if they didn't intend or want to have to the child. Child support for children in divorce cases is totally different, but some random chick gets knocked up because she forgot to take the pill or a condom broke and you get the bill for 18 years? That's total BS.

  2. I believe men and women are equally responsible for the children they create because they both take the risk of pregnancy any time they have s*x, unprotected or otherwise. BUT, I do not belive that the government should be paying women for having children. People need to work for their money and they need to work to support their children. AND PAY THEIR OWN RENT! Sorry, personal experience.

  3. Alot of you men out there really get the short end of the stick when divorce is involved, especially when the wife was at fault. Also, if a man signs a birth certificate on a child he presumes is his, but finds out later it;s not, he;s still screwed. I, on the otherhand didn't get child support from the father of my three children after our divorce, even tho it was ordered...for nearly 5 years. I, being a gullible sap thought just his interaction with the children was enough. But, alas, that daddy-good-time didn't last long either. There's injustices going on with the moms and the dads. I say, men cover your baby makers, for as the ole saying goes,"Momma's baby..daddy's maybe".

  4. It's not the child's fault that the man made a child and doesn't want a child.  The child's needs come first.

Help given to mother's is given because it benefits the child.  Well cared for children benefit society.  Poorly cared for children often turn to crime.  It is in society's best interests to care for the children that are brought into the world.

    Get it?  Nothing hypocritical.

  5. "but some random chick gets knocked up because she forgot to take the pill or a condom broke and you get the bill for 18 years? That's total BS' -- yes, because men should be able to have s*x and not worry about the consequences.

sorry, but there is no "get out of parenthood" free card.

    grow up.

dont' want kids? dont have s*x. can't control yourself?

" use a condom or beat it "

  6. Even if he was a victim of rape.  Oddly sad but true.

  7. Instead of retyping my whole view on this topic, I'll just post the link to the blog I did on it:

I don't like child support entrapment, not one bit, now if a guy says he'll help raise the children he shouldn't be able to jump ship, however if he never wanted the child in the first place, that's a different story.

  8. Thank you. Ppl, if u choose to lay down and get pregnant, deal with it. At the same time, men yeah u should step up, if u didn't want a kid u should be using condoms. BUT, yes the system needs to be fixed. Wmn quit cryin when a man leaves u with a kid, wmn go through that everday, women who've been married for 10 years with kids get divorced by thier husbands. It's nobody's fault but ur own that u are having kids u can't afford. U take the risk when u have s*x unprotected so then u need to take care of ur kid if the man bails. U could've gave the baby up for adoptoin, u could've even had an abortion (yea I said it, free rights). Child support payments are for SUPPORT of your child, it's not supposed to pay the way like most women WANT it to do. I'm sick of paying for LAZY women to live. Get a job, handle ur business as a woman and a mom and do for ur kid...THEN u worry about the child support.

But y r u worried about a man who's not taking care of his kid, when ur not taking care of ur kid either? Ur sitting around waiting for a handout

  9. A man could literally be raped by a woman and still have to pay child support for the child of that rape... At this point, I'm not surprised by anything when it comes to this subject.

  10. I'm confused by this question. Can you rephrase? Because what I'm getting out of it is this:

Why do some people demand a man pay child support and also support government help?

    Is this correct?
