Could I ask you some questions about Austria!? I'm doing a report on it. We have to write an itinerary in Austria! I've done a bit of studying, and is currently planning to go to Wien and Salzburg, but...do you recommand any place to visit? If a person goes to Austria for the first time, where would he HAVE to go? What's the most special thing in Austria? Where should I live?

and i know there's REAL good cake there too ><!

Thank you so much!!!!

  1. Typical Austria is Vienna with Schönbrunn, Hofburg. If you get to Salzburg you should visit the "Festspiele". Sorry but as an Austrian girl I have no idea what the English word for "Festspiele" is. Then in Austria is very popular Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart the compnist. In Salzburg stands in Salzburg. And the real good cake is the "Sachertorte"! A chocolate cake.

  2. I spent most of my time in and around Salzburg and that city alone would take a week to see everything! There is a castle one the edge of the city called Hellbrun that has this garden with hidden sprinklers everywhere and the duke who built it used to spray his guests when there were all drunk at his parties! it is call the "Wasserspiele". Also there are salt mines that you can tour near Salzburg those are very interesting and fun! You HAVE to see down town Salzburg it is so quaint and has so many things to see!

Other than that I know that Innsbruck is a beautiful little city and Vienna is wonderful but I was only there for one day!

Oh and to the other answer "Festspiele" is in Salzburg in the summer it is like the Sundance Film Festival only for plays. If I remember right it is a couple of weeks and they have plays everyday. It is really fun!

  3. you would have to visit innsbruck (cultural city), dachstein (ice caves), grossglockner (highest mountain in austria), bregenz (the most expensive city of the country)...... Mariazell (one of the oldest churches in mid austria)... Linz for Hitler's concentration camps....

the real good cake is called the Sacher Torte
