Some questions about Sinchon & Hongdae

Question

What time do shops, stores, department stores and restaurants close around Sinchon and Hongdae? Is it safe for a woman to walk/stroll around those areas at 10:00 in the evening?

Shops and stores: Most shops and stores close around 10 PM; there must be some 24/7 convenience stores though.

Department stores/malls: They close at 8 PM

Restaurants: They really vary. Actually, many of them are open for 24/7. Some upscale restaurants will close around 10 PM though.

Bars and Clubs: Around 4 AM during the weekdays; Around 6 AM during the weekends.

Yes, Shinchon and Hongdae are quite safe to walk around at night.

Theft, mugging and other violent crimes do not happen that much in Seoul compared with other BIG CITIES in the world.

So if you have common sense, you won't get any trouble. (Just avoid drunk old men!)

Those are neighborhoods that don't sleep from my experience.  I lived at Ahyun Station, very nearby.  If you stay on the main streets, which are usually quite populated 24/7 I'd say you're ok. At ten, there'd still be tonnes of people walking around partying and having fun.

Most restaurants open until late, at least 12 for most of them and later for some of them. Departments stores usually close around 10~10:30. For small shops and stores I couldn't give you a general rule, but they tend to open until late (9 or 10), especially in Hongdae. I've been shopping there late at night and a lot of stores were still open. As for safety, yes definitely. I'd say it's safe to walk around almost all parts of Seoul at night. Korea is known for its incredibly low crime rate.
