Okay i'm almost 39 weeks 2cm dilated, cervix soft, babys head is descending into pelvis, I'm having some contractions and some period type cramps, vaginal pain, and i'm losing pieces of my mucous plug. Is labor close in your opinion? my contractions aren't steady, not even enough to time and i've had them for 3 days. I went to the doctors yesterday and they said it could be anytime but I know that could be weeks from now, in your experience and your opinion do you think it maybe closer or still a while away? the doctor is talking about inducing soon but I really want to be able to go into labor myself, that is why i'm asking.

  1. It is really hard to tell, they can start to induce once you hit 38 weeks so you are in a safe zone now for that which is why the Dr is probably talking about the inducing now especially if you have had complications the whole pregnancy.  At least with you being already dilated and baby in position if you were to get induced chances are better that it will work but if you wait to long they may fear you will end up more likely to have a c-section especially if your health gets worse.  Make sure you are doing lots of walking, have s*x, have multiple orgasms and lots of nipple stimulation and if you feel those contractions starting up more then just keep doing what you are doing .  The more you walk to more you encourage the pressure from teh baby to push on your cervix and hopefully cause more dilation.  Good luck

  2. If you are only 38 weeks, why would your dr. induce you?  I was 3-4 cm for 4 weeks prior. Lots of braxton hicks in that time.  Backache too. You never know when its going to happen. Drink lots of water. Your water might break because of this.

  3. Ive had 3 kids.  All your symptoms are a sign pregnancy is coming.  Often you hear about women in labor for days-----because the head has not descended.  I think you will have a baby this weekend is not tonight since the head is descending.  Goodluck and think happy thoughts.

  4. This is exactly how I was with both pregnancies, my advice is next time the contractions start get your man and get it on! That's the only thing that revved up my contractions enough to go to the hospital and have them keep me. Hope it works good luck!!

  5. If you are only 39 weeks there should be no reason, barring a medical emergency, to induce.  If you are intent on entering labor naturally, remember that it is Your choice and Your right - don't be afraid to refuse him!

It really could be any time, although with the number of symptoms you are experiencing simultaneously, I'd definitely say it's sooner than later.

Get as much rest as possible, stay hydrated and eat enough (easily-digestable) food.  Sounds very close!

    Congratulations and best of luck!!
