Got myself a new Honda XR200 dirtbike and so far, about 200+ on the odometer yet. Good performance. My only concern is that maybe the engine is generating too much heat. Or maybe it's just me cause it's my first dirt bike. It generate so much heat I have to angle my feet to get some of it off my lower shin. Oil level is okay. But I really can feel so much heat on my lower shin part. Would fuel type has something to do with it (93 or 95 octane)?

  1. XR200s are air cooled...They get hot...even hotter in hot weather..It only has cooling fins on the motor..Sounds like your bike is fine..Keep your oil changed and you will be fine..

Your gas has nothing to do with it..Your bike will run just fine with pump gas...don't waste your money on high octane gas..you wont be able to tell the differance...If your motor was a big bore..then you would need race gas...

  2. Slow down some .haha

the heat is normal as your bike is AIR COOLED the heat goes right into your leg.

It is probably the exhaust pipe heating you up.

You can buy muffler wrap from MOOSE RACING and others like FMF that you can wrap around the exhuast it will help alot.

It looks clunky though and you wuill not want to powerwash the wrap as it comes apart with the power stream.
