1.can u diferentia8 a monocot plant from a dicot one just by looking at the stem? how?

2. wat advantage wud herbaceous stems have over woody stems? woody stems over herbaceous stems?

3. of wat importance are nodes to the plants?

4. wat is d function of d lenticels? do all stems have these? explain.

5. wat develops at the axils of leaves?

6. wer wud u find older leaves, near the tip of the stem or near d lower part of the stem?

7. y r d tips of plants usualy used as veggies lyk kamote tops, kangkong tops etc.?

8. y is d terminal bud considered an active part of d stem?

9. y r herbaceous plants mor valuable 2 pipol as a fud sors dan woody plants?

10. do monocots have axillary buds?

  1. 1. The vascular bundles of dicots is organized in a ring. In monocots it is scattered. So check the vascular bundles.

    2. Herbaceous stems contain chlorophyll that allows the plant to use them in addition to leaves for photosynthesis, more green pigment means more food for the plant.

    Woody stems allow the plant to grow higher against gravity and not crack due to outside influences.

    3. It provides a location on the plant where buds can form and grow into leaves.

    4. Permits gas exchange. No, not all stems, only ones with bark.

    5. It holds water, so probably water.

    6. Lower part because the apical meristem is where it grows. So older things would appear to be at the lower area.

    8. That is the place where ALL the plant growth occurs.

    10. Because it needs to secrete.
