Question:

Some "Own up to it" Hockey Questions?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

1.) Who is one player who you consistantly put down, but secretly respect (or wish was on your team)?

2.) Name one popular hockey joke that you don't think is true (example, Sidney Crosby went to The Mark Spitz hockey school).

3.) If you could start your hockey fan career over, would you pick the same team (you can live anywhere)?

4.) Could you ever change teams? Say you moved to Atlanta and Ilya Kovalchuk saved your puppy from drowning then gave you season tickets?

5.) Do you come on here because you like it? Have nothing better to do? Or you are in a position where killing time is necessary?

Thanks!

  1. 1. Avery

    2. huh

    3. Yes I would

    4. Never. Even when I move out of NYS, I'll still be a Sabres fan for life

    5. Extreme boredom, I like most of the people on here, and I am a Y!A addict.

  2. To answer your question-

1)I respect Sid and I guess everybody wants him on their team.

2)That Chelios is old.....John McCain is old Chris isn't that old.

3)I would be a fan of the same team honestly..I couldn't imagine rooting for another team.

4)No I couldn't.I'd appreciate the tix and go to the games because I am a hockey fan but still a Flyers fan.

5)I DID like it at one time and yes I am killing time at work.

  3. 1) None

    2) I can't think of one off hand

    3) It's hard to say, when I was born there were only 7 teams to choose from,  one of which disappeared 2-3 years later.  Based on my era, I would probably have chosen the Canadiens regardless of whether I was born in Montreal or not.

    4) The only way I would consider changing teams is if the pension cheques stopped!  Starting July 1st, the pension cheques have the Black Hawks logo on them....another nice touch by Rocky!

    5)  I enjoy it.  I enjoy the people.

  4. 1. I don't think there is a player that I constantly put down who I respect or would want on my team.

    2. Um...no clue

    3. I'd still be a Leafs fan, I can't imagine rooting for any other team then the Leafs.

    4. I would be thankful for the tickets and go to the games whenever I can but Leafs would still be my #1. Said team would probably become my second favourite team.

    5. It's my summer holidays and I have nothing better to do but I also genuinely like the people here and I have learned a lot about hockey since coming on here.

  5. 1. Martin Brodeur

    2. --------------

    3. absolutely. Wings Baby

    4. No way. Wing Nut for Life

    5. Killing time is definetely Necessary. Love talking hockey though

  6. 1)  Sidney Crosby.  I never hated him until he was overhyped and until I had to deal with a lot of ignorant Pittsburgh fans (the bandwagon ruins the reputation of some otherwise decent hockey fans).  I still "dislike" him, not hate, but dislike him for diving, whining, and what I perceive to be immaturity.  I think he expects things to be handed to him because of the "savior of hockey" the media makes him out to be.  I think he expected to win the Cup based on principle.  Imagine if he won the Cup?  The praise would never end, and it would be the perfect ending to a quaint, heartwarming underdog story where Sid the Kid overcomes a veteran team of superstars (although his own team was stacked offensively).  However, although I think at the current time there are a number of better players in the league, annoying fans and media hype can't let anyone underestimate him.  The Red Wings gave him the respect that was do, and for that reason, he was made nearly irrelevant in the finals by Henrik Zetterberg.  They understood the threat that he posed, which is why Henrik Zetterberg was responsible for shutting him down.  It was for the same reason that Pavel Datsyuk shut down Evgeni Malkin (who is also outstanding but was also not yet ready for the Cup).  I think Crosby will be one of the best in the league for his entire career, but I'm still very content with my own Red Wings.

    2)  Can't think of one.  Chris Pronger's wife enjoys Johan Franzen's company while Pronger is on a East Coast road trip?  Wait that's just a fact.

    3)  Definitely.  I was very lucky to basically be born into the Red Wings' most successful dynasty since the days of the Production Line and Terry Sawchuk.  Thank you Ken Holland, Steve Yzerman, Scotty Bowman, Nicklas Lidstrom and Mike Ilitch (and of course, the rest of my boys).

    4)  Never...I BLEED RED!!!  Wait a minute...

    5)  Well, I'm at work and shouldn't be, but I'm from Hockeytown and go to school in Northwest Indiana (Purdue University).  I need to find people to talk hockey otherwise I use thousands of minutes and text messages calling friends at home.

  7. 1)I really don't put down a player unless they do something stupid. But I will say I was never a huge fan of Chelios. He is fine , but not a huge fan, but in his prime, he could gladly come play on the Panthers

2)Parros has been in p**n, His 'tashe says it all.

3)No i am happy the way it is

4)I would go to the game and root for the home team unless they are playing my old team. I never give up an old team . They always have a place in my heart

5)I come on here Mostly because I like it. I also come on here to get a break from filling out employment applications

  8. 1)  I am not 5 years-old anymore.  I don't have to push a boy in the mud puddle to let him know I like him, lol.  I put down Crosby and Ovechkin every once and a while, but I also praise them, as well.  I suppose that doesn't count.

    2)  I read that Vincent Lecavalier likes REALLY trashy looking chicks.  Like Quiet Riot hair, stone washed, leather fringed mommas.

    3)  I would be a bigger Habs fan if I were born a couple hundred mile north, and was born in Canada.  I am not ashamed of being a Lightning fan.  I know everybody else in the NHL thinks the Southeast is a joke, but I don't care...I have never been a conformist, and I definitely would not start to be one with hockey.

    4)  I could pick up another team to cheer.  I would never NOT be a Lightning or Habs fan.  It is like saying, if your parents adopted a new brother for you, would you stop loving your old brother.

    5)  I am at work 95% of the time when I am one here.  I come on every once and a while at night or on the weekends.  I work on some paperwork, talk to clients on the phone, and have appointments.  In between these things, I come on here for like 5 minutes at a crack, just to give myself mini breaks.  It is pretty great, because it is like sneaking some friends in my office, and occasionally talking about hockey....makes the day go faster.

Iceman: I think that is the definition of a slacker.  Shame on us!

  9. 1) Henrik Zetterburgh

    2) Dominik Hasek should have retired years ago... no way goalies are achieving their prime now in their older years!

    3) YES, I HEART PENGUINS HOCKEY!!!

    4) depends... I would still adore th pens but I could adapt to the Hurricanes and the Avalanche... and possible the thrashers with colby armstong, eric Christansen, and marc recchi there

    5) I like it/ occupies time

  10. 1) Basically anyone on the Ducks

    2) Can't think of one

    3) Yes

    4) I would sell those season tickets then buy Red Wings season tickets.

    5) I have nothin to do...

  11. 1). I like Marty Biron but right now I don't need him on the Devils. I'm content with our Marty B.

2.) Mario and Sid are members of NAMBLA!

    3.) Maybe the Chi-Hawks.

4.)Nah but my puppy would be named Kovie.

5.)I like it I love Hockey, I am at work so killing time!!

    No, No, thank you!!!

  12. 1) I wouldn't mind having Joe Sakic on the Wings.

    2) It's not the Mark Spitz hockey school, it's the Greg Louganis hockey school.

I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.

    3) I couldn't see being anything other than a Wings fan.

    4) I'd cheer for the local team, unless it's Colorado, but I'd be a Wings fan first.

    5) I have nothing better to do.

  13. 1.) henrik zetterberg. ive never really put him down, but i do envy him cause hes so talented.

2.) i dont wanna think about one right now.

3.) of course. my loyalty has and always will lie with the pens. even if i didnt live in pittsburgh.

4.) NO. okay. id thank kovalchuk, high five him maybe. but thats about it.

5.) haha, well. yeah, i like it on here. but i come on the computer to do summer school work and end up on here.

  14. 1)  Back in the day, Patrick Roy.  I'd still hate his childish behavior, but with those kind of performances on my team, it'd be hard to truly hate the guy.

    2)  I can't name one popular hockey joke other than Don Cherry's jackets

    3)  Yep, Red Wings all the way.

    4)  Not entirely.  One of those cases where "I'll root for them as long as they're not playing the Wings".  End of the day, I'd still want the Wings to win it all.

    5)  If I didn't come here I'd be caught sleeping at my desk and fired.  It keeps my brain occupied while doing tasks that have no interest to me.

  15. 1. Okay, maybe Sid the kid but I don't really wish he was on our team...I know I really dislike Marc-Andre Fleury but that's because he is really good for being so young and it would be cool if he was on my team.

    2. I can't think of one off the top of my head right now...

    3. Yes! I've been a Wings fan through thick and thin and I still love them

    4.  No, but I would respect their team and the player and root for them when they were not playing against the Red Wings. I live in Maryland but I'm a 100% Wings fan...I really don't care that much about the D.C. Capitals

    5.  I enjoy being in the hockey section and yes, you could probably say sometimes I don't have anything better to do. Once I get back in school I will be on here much less but that's because I'll be so busy with all these annoying honors classes ugh.

  16. 1) Sean Avery

    2) i hav no clue

3)Yea im glad i live in Detroit

    4) No i would nvr change teams

    5) Come on here cause i like it

  17. 1) Nobody fits that category.

    2) Nothing I'm allowed to discuss in this forum regarding the nocturnal habits of Rookie Night dinners gone wrong.

    3) I was born in, raised in, and have come back to live in Toronto.  Wouldn't have it any other way.

    4) I lived in Northern California for a few years...came to appreciate the Sharks and their fans, but I'm still a Leafs fan.

    5) I'm just here for the free beer.  When does that start?

  18. 1) Joe Sakic/Crosby

    2) None really

    3) Oh definitely...I love the Wings

    4) I wouldnt' change teams but hey Hockey is Hockey i'll go to every Atlanta game wearing my Red Wings jersey lol.

    5) All of the above.

    Your welcome :)

  19. 1. Miroslav Satan, and I put him down a few weeks ago. (hanging head in shame) thanks for making me own up to my own demons.

    2. My fav hockey joke.... sid likes girls.

    3. Absolutely, I stick with my team through the good and bad... more bad most of the time, so I've learned great coping skills.

    4. I wouldn't change teams, but if I was in a place where an NHL team resided then I would go to the games... hockey is hockey man.

    5. I come here because I like you wacky kids, mostly not at work, and mostly working on people's paperwork when I am on here. do you know how many times I was typing something in someone's chart and it's half a hockey answer... maddening it is.

    good questions..

  20. 1. Well..this would have to be Derek Jeter..but then I'm in the hockey section sooo...I don't do it too too much, but every once in a while I'll say something about Crosby, and yeah I want him on my team, and yeah I respect him a lot.

    2. Ehh..Can't think this early.
