  1. Make sure your shoes fit properly: like you have a good arch and they give you enough support. You might also try running in grass or dirt and not on the hard pavement because it isn't so hard on your feet and you will be less sore when it comes time to run. If you eat healthier too and exercise daily you should gain strength in no time. Good luck! :)

  2. make sure you are getting good nutrition (eat lots of proteins) and work on your form (it requires less effort if you lengthen your stride) and work on your breathing patterns (brreath in thru nose breath out through mouth)

  3. long strides when running up a hill lean forward a little bit

  4. Work on Form, Work on breathing, Mix up workouts with distance and Speed

  5. OMGSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!That is EXACTLY where I was last year.....just..........I was 12...........lol..... so your in Varsity huh? well at least for X-Country.................

Make sure for X-Country you run faster up hills, most people slow down on hills.........

For both, make sure you lengthen your strides, by pretending like you are sort of hoping up and down lightly on your feet or just kicking your butt . It will help you get more distance in less effort and time.

And, make sure you drink plenty of water 3-5 hrs before you run, and 1-2 hrs before just drink some water. A 10% decrease in your hydration means a 25% decrease in your performance.

And, make sure you settle into your pace after the start sprint in races......if you start out too fast you'll get tired and might end up walking or jogging really slowly.

And, make sure you stretch....if you pull a muscle you could be out of running for days or weeks, if it is bad enough.

And, make SURE you rest 1-2 days a week.........you DON'T want to OVER WORK your muscles.....or you could really INJURE them........

And, have fun.................that's what it REALLY is all about, NOT the competition...................

    Good Luck!!!!!!!!!
