Some cost £75 only 1 metre long. I feel somesone is trying to rip me off. I have several £6 cost ones which provide an excellent picture to my DVD recorder.

  1. Gold is best for conductivity. Exspensive equipment like HD TV'S benefit more from using these types of connectors.

  2. no just buy a standard

  3. Theoretically they work better because of the superior conduction properties of the gold. In practice the results they provide to your average end user, is indistinguishable from your £6 lead .  The biggest problem I ever had with scarts is that the lead is so heavy, it eventually pulls itself out the socket.  I would imagine the gold ones will do this just as well

  4. No! my boyfriend worked for Comet and he said they are a complete waste of time and are saved for people with more money than sense lol.

  5. Some would say there is a difference, but you'll be hard pressed to notice the difference unless you have top of the range TV's and DVD's. Save your money, go for a normal one.

  6. The cheap ones you get with equipment when you buy it are rubbish, as are the the ones you can get in DIY stores for about £5. Having said this, you don't need to spend a fortune to get a significantly better lead. You can get a good one from Richer Sounds for about £10-£15. I use these leads with my Sky box and DVD recorder and the pictures on my LCD tv are excellent.

  7. "Some cars are very expensive (bigger engines, etc) are they worth the money?"

    Does that answer your question?

  8. i worked for directv and saw them a lot and in my 3 years there i could not tell the difference the only thing that they are good for is they last longer if you are going to put them in and out consistently, and they look much better then the cheaper ones, gold dose have a better resistance but with electricity!!! Not video or audio out put, the voltage is to low, monster cables are better for long trajectories just because they are thickerand hold a better signal but if you are using them from a DVD player that is like a foot away it is a complete waste of money

  9. waste of money just buy the regular ones you can't see any difference in picture why would you pay more just for the advertising or brand that is ridiculous. Don't help them get richer by paying them a load of money for products that just don't measure up to their false claims.

  10. Both work fine use what you can aford

  11. No they are not. Shops will tell you otherwise. Gold is a noble metal and will not corrode so the contact points will outlast the equipment.

Fine for Mars voyagers etc, but just a little ott for domestic use high def or not.
