>Shower specs: About 35 by 45 inches. Floor slightly curves downward in the center leading to the drain. Tiles are not marble so grout application wont damage it.

>Length inbetween tiles: 5 millimeters.

>My experience: no experience at all, im just doing it for my mom to get that white color look back again so it looks nice.

>Reason: Did not know about grout sealing, the grout isnt white, its orangy, brownish

#1: Would grout re-coloring be more suitable for this job, if so is the process easy?

#2: How hard will it be for me to do this job if i do the whole regrouting process?

#3: Once the grout is removed, will the tiles be loose, or will the tiles still be stuck to the floor.

#4: The grout is kind of a rough texture, is this "sand grout"

  1. #1 Re-coloring is much easier but it may not look quite as good as re-grouting.  However, re-grouting is ALOT of work so it may be worth a shot.  If the re-coloring doesn't come out good then you haven't really lost much since you'll just have to re-grout anyway.

#2  Re-grouting isn't that hard but it can be very labor intensive.  You'll need to remove the old grout either using a grout saw or a Dremel tool.  My experience has been that the hand saw is actually faster but the Dremel is less work.  No matter which one you use it will make a pretty good mess.  Once you get the old grout out, you'll need to apply the new.  It's not a hard job but it does require a little bit of skill and there are some definite "dos and don'ts".

#3  The tiles should be fine if you remove the grout.  If not, there was a problem with that tile and it needed to be fixed anyway.

#4  Yes that is the sanded grout.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions.  I'm not a professional but have done my share of tile work.
