OK,im helping my friend ask this question since she does not have a yahoo account, anyway

She just learned skating in April, and at that time she was in beta &was under a different coach and had learned until her FS1,the pivot&2foot spin in just 5lessons.

Then later she changed to a different coach and aft 10lessons she is still in gamma/delta.

She skates once a week

Thanks,

And another question for myself:D

Im in FS1 now,i just started learning 1month ago

and i know this sounds weird, but anyway

but i can't do my 2foot spin properly,i will spin on my toepick part instead and causing me to do only2-3pathetic rounds,

how do i spin near my toepick that area and not on my toepick part?

Thanksss!!

  1. yeah. after a while, you cant do two foot spins anymore. after you learn your one foot spin, you stop doing that.

I'm doing triples and i cant do a two foot spin.

    but i can do a b. camel b.doughnut b.sit b.catchfoot (change) layback beillman.

i know. its weird but that's how it works for people. just move on to bigger and better things.

i remember when i competed in isi and i needed a two foot spin. i just did a one foot spin with the other foot close to the ground. it worked, judges didnt see it.

  2. Get the weight off your toe, this makes you go to your pick, you need to spin by putting the weight (pressure) only on the ball of your foot. This way your weight is a bit farther back on your blade and you will spin on the "sweet spot".

  3. you could put ur heel down in your skae that would help

  4. I would say your friend is progressing at an average rate.  Tell her don't worry, everyone learns at a different pace.  As for you 2ft spin, the part of the blade you want to spin on is the rocker.   It starts from about the middle of the blade to almost the beginning of the toepick.  All blades have different "sweet spots".  That is the best place to spin on.  It will take practice to find it, but don't give up and keep practicing. Start your spin from a pivot (about 1-2 turns and go into the spin).

Tips:  Hold your arms out and pull them in slowly.  Try to get on the rocker of you blade.

Next try brining your arms in faster

Don't be afraid to fall. Since you keep going on your toepick, try leaning back a little.

Keep your balance, by keeping your back straight and look up not down.

    Practice, practice, practice

    Most of all have, fun.

check out about.com and enter the word ice skating and find the article about spins.  you could also watch movies on youtube
