Does it ACTUALLY help you loose weight?

Can you still eat the normal things you eat, or do you have to go on a diet to loose the weight?

How much (UK £) is it?

How much weight have you lost if you have?

How long do you have to play it per day to start loosing weight?

Thanks!!! xx

  1. Woop! Something I can answer!

I just finished my dissertation on the Wii's role in fitness, exploring it's uses in rehabilitation and exercise (It was very difficult, I had to play on my wii for *shock* an hour a day! I wasn't complaining though...).

I split my research up into three months, The first month, I played Wii Fit for between half an hour and an hour a day (Cardio exercises mainly but I did some of the Strength training aswell). I didn't do any other exercise (except walking to the shops or to college), and I found that I'd lost 3 pound at the end of the month.

For the second month, I went for a mile run every first day, and a mile walk every second day, aswell as playing on my Wii for between half an hour and an hour a day. At the end of the month I'd lost 6 pound. The third month was cutting out junk food (takeaways, snacks etc) and eating more healthily aswell as the walking, running and Wii'ing. I lost just under 8 pound that month.

Can't believe I actually got away with this dissertation to be honest, Was sure I was going to be told to study a different subject. But yeah, I'm sure it works, and the research I found all supported my evidence.

You don't have to diet to lose weight, but just taking a look at your eating habits will help you.

I got my Wii Fit on the first day it came out from Woolworths for £69.99

At the moment, I've lost a stone and a half. My research has ended, but I'm want to come down to about twelve and a half stone before I ease up.

Losing weight will depend on your general regime. If you eat crisps, chips and general junk food, then you'll have to use Wii Fit for longer. I used it for about an half an hour to an hour each day. The cardio exercises are more beneficial for losing weight, but you should try to balance out your fitness regime.

    Good Luck.

  2. I'm not sure about how much weight you loose, iv had mine for about 2 monbths now and use it for 10 minuits a day and i feel more tomed but have seen no actual weight loss

It doesnt promote or suggest any diet that you should follow as the idea is to loose the weigh purely through their software so you wouldnt have to change what you eat.

They're around £70 but obviously you'd have to have a wii first which i think are now about £100.

I think if you play on it more than i do it could help with weight loss, but the games can be a bit repetitive and it's really only the arobic workouts that will make you loose weight and there are only 6 different ones to chose from so it does start to get a bit boring but soon there should be more games you can buy to work with the wii board. Other types of workouts it has are

Balance games - which are more fun that anything else, but at least your on your feet rather than just sitting down if thats what youd normally do when playing a computor game

Yoga workouts - which arent hard to do, but they dont make you break out into a sweat, they just work on your control and flexibility

and the Muscle workouts- which involve things like squats and lunges which are what i do most and have helped my legs become more toned.

You would think you could save £70 and just to lunges on your floor but the wii board shows you where to apply the pressure and how much on each leg so that you get the best from your exercise and arent wasting your time.

I do think it's a worth while purchase.

  3. The reason it will help you lose weight and/or get fit is because you are exercising. So like any other exercise it all depends on how much you do and at what level and how fit you are to begin with as overweight people lose weight quicker. If you want to lose a fair amount and are actually interested in getting fit then playing wii fit whilst on a suitable diet will help. Although if you don't wish to diet you can still get fit and loose weight, you just won't lose it as fast. I have it and can tell you that some of the exercises will really test you and yet with the different levels and wide variety of exercises it is suitable for most people of different fitness levels. I haven't lost any weight but i haven't played on it often and i have been eating quite a lot lately lol.

We paid £70 for our copy of Wii Fit and got it from game station. Sadly since it's launch in has been sold out across England. You can buy one on Ebay and possibly other second hand sites but with the high demand the prices are disgusting. You are best to wait till they are back on the shelf and get your self a copy at the correct price.

  4. !-No you need to eat right if you want to loose weigth.don't excpect to drink coke eat fries and play and still loos weight.

3-You need to play 35-50 minuts a day or somthing like that maybe even a hour!

4-Once again I dont have it and I don't plan in getting it.
