  1. If you are a super-intellectual like me you'll already know that the DC natural history museum is crummy compared to Chicago and NY, that the American History museum is closed for renovation and the really good Air and Space Museum is in Dulles, Virginia.

What's left are the monuments and memorials: Lincoln, Washington, Jefferson, WWII, Vietnam, Korean War, etc.

There is the Hope Diamond in the Natural History, but if you've been to Chicago or NY, you'll be disappointed. I'm sure you are too late to get admission to the White House because you have to get that through your congressman. There is the capital, the supreme court and the bureau of engraving which is next to the holocaust museum. The zoo is OK, but it's well beyond Dupont Circle.

All admission is free by the way.

  2. If you are an intellectual like myself, you may want to check out the holocost museum. If you are interested in having a very full day, the Smithsonian museum institutes. My personal favorite is the Natural history museum. Of course seeing the historical landmarks such as; the Washington memorial, the Lincoln memorial,  and many others is a must.

  3. The Washington monument

  4. That's a tough one to try and get everything setup before this weekend, but if you can try and contact your state congressman's office to get a tour of the US capitol building.  The archives building is awesome if you care to see the Declaration of Independence and such documents.  And of course the smithsonian buildings.  The natural history museum has the beautiful hope diamond.  Can also see the Wright brothers plane in the air and space museum.  In all reality you can spend a whole week and not see everything at the smithsonians.  Arlington is a must see, the changing of the gaurds at the tomb of the unknown.  Plenty of monuments to see especially WWI and WWII monuments.  Lincoln memorial, Jefferson monument, Washington monument.  I feel like I am going to completely miss something obvious.  I'm not sure I can list everything to go see, but there is a lot.  Good luck, it is an amazing place to visit.
