Screens are your first defense. There are many styles of fly traps on the market, your local grocery store should have a selection. Keep a clean house (no insult intended). A good old fashioned fly swatter does a lot too.

You can shoot them with rubber bands.  Great sport!

Well the fy swatter might be your best bet !?!  I use rolled up news paper or magazines !!. Oh I must say for the sake of saying !! I  took one of those things that many use to tie around the head !! much like GANG members had been aid or seen to do !! & using it much like when I'd roll a towel at a swimming pool to pop some girl on the b$%^ uh'mmanyway I caught two flys I guess trying hard to make a new little fly !?! lol popped them !! but only killed one !!  & judging by how they HAD to fly `round ha ha ha well lets just say that I'll bet His friends asked or said when HE came flyin `round .. " So I see you killed it HuH"!?! lol  rRr

Well, there are common flying insect insecticides, and the common fly swatter and there's my personal favorite, snapping a wet towel.  The last option requires some skill and patience.
